Today's Focus: how it is built

Where your daily plan comes from, when it appears, and how to build a new one.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Today's Focus is a short plan for your day, written by Bett-i. Open it in the morning to see what she suggests you do.

It holds between 1 and 6 actions, plus a header. On some days it adds a line about the weather. Every action is written by Bett-i, so you always know who is talking to you.

You find it in Focus, on the Today tab. The top of the page shows the date, the time in your time zone, the weather and your city.

Next to them sit three controls. An information icon explains how the plan works. A download button gives you the plan as a PDF, and a sliders icon opens "Manage".

The plan builds itself once a day. The first time you open Focus on a new day, Bett-i starts building it on her own.

That happens once a day for your account, on every device. If a plan is already building on your other device, the second one waits rather than starting a duplicate.

You can also ask for a plan yourself.

Steps

  1. 1Open Focus and stay on the Today tab.
  2. 2If there is no plan yet, select "Generate Today's Focus".
  3. 3To replace the plan you already have, select the sliders icon to open "Manage".
  4. 4Select Regenerate at the bottom of the "Manage" panel.

Note

Core includes 1 manual generation a day. Elite includes unlimited regenerations. The plan Bett-i builds automatically at the start of the day does not use it up. Once it is spent, generate again the next day in your time zone, or move up to Elite.

To build the plan, Bett-i reads:

  • What she remembers about you. Your active memories under Goals, Lifestyle, Preferences and Training.
  • What you have been doing about your goals lately.
  • Your calendar for today, so the plan fits around what is already booked.
  • Your health for the day, using the source you chose for each metric.
  • Your labs and biomarkers, when you have results.
  • Content from the Betterness library, so anything to watch or listen to is a real item you can open.
  • Your location, when you have shared it, so a suggested place is somewhere you can go.
  • Meal opportunities from your nutrition program.
  • What you completed, and the feedback you left on earlier cards.

Bett-i is held to what she can see. With no location for you, she will not invent a city or a venue. She will not claim a biomarker is missing unless it really is.

While the plan is being written you see the steps she is working through. They include reading last night's sleep, checking today's calendar and reviewing your goals. They also include weighing recovery, looking at this week's activities, and writing your plan.

Tip

You can leave the page while the plan is building. It keeps going, and the finished plan is waiting for you when you come back.

If something goes wrong you see a message saying Bett-i couldn't build today's plan automatically. A button lets you try again when you are ready.

A plan from an earlier day is never shown as today. When you open Focus on a new day, yesterday's plan is not carried over. The page offers to build a new one, and the PDF download is not offered for the old plan.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no plan when I open Focus?

Bett-i only builds a plan automatically once your account setup is complete. Finish onboarding, then open Focus again, or build one with "Generate Today's Focus".

How many plans can I get in a day?

On Core you get the plan Bett-i builds automatically, plus 1 manual generation a day. Elite includes unlimited regenerations.

Why does my plan have fewer cards on some days?

A plan holds between 1 and 6 actions. Bett-i chooses how many, based on your day and what your data suggests.

Can I change what my plan focuses on?

Yes. Open "Manage" with the sliders icon and write your Focus prompt there. It shapes every plan from then on.

What you can do with a Focus card

6.2

What you can do with a Focus card

Put a suggestion on your calendar, keep a video or a note, talk to Bett-i, and track what you finish.

Updated Sep 6, 2026

Open Focus, then Today. Each card suggests something you can do. The options depend on the card: a video has a save option, and a timed suggestion can go on your calendar.

Add to calendar and undo

  1. 1Select “Add to calendar” on a card that offers it.
  2. 2Check the date, start and end times, location and notes, then save.
  3. 3Wait for the confirmation and the “On your calendar” marker. Use “View Calendar” to check the event.
  4. 4To take it back, select “Undo” in the confirmation. If it has closed, open the event in Calendar and delete it.

Note

Some cards open an idea you can review before adding it to your calendar. A save is complete only when you see the confirmation. If an error appears, check Calendar before trying again.

Save a video to your library and a playlist

  1. 1On a card with a video, select “Save to library”. The “Add to playlist” window opens.
  2. 2Choose one of your playlists. To make one, select “Create new playlist”, enter a name, then select “Create and save”.
  3. 3Wait for “Saved to Library › Your playlists”. Select “Open saved playlist” to open it in Media and check that the video is there.

Save a note

  1. 1On a card that offers a note or reflection, select that action to open a conversation with Bett-i.
  2. 2Write the note you want to keep and ask Bett-i to remember it.
  3. 3Read her reply, then open Settings → Memory to check the saved item. If it is missing, ask her to save it before leaving.

Tell Bett-i

  1. 1Select the message button beside Bett-i on the card, or the call button to speak.
  2. 2Tell her what changed, what you tried, or why this suggestion does not fit. The conversation opens with the card as context.

Mark done or mark as incomplete

  1. 1When you finish the action, select “Mark done” at the bottom of the card.
  2. 2The card shows “Completed today” with the completion time and appears in “Earlier today”.
  3. 3If you marked it by mistake, open the card in “Earlier today” and select “Mark as incomplete”. A card whose time has already passed can stay in that group.

What “Earlier today” means

  1. 1Earlier today includes finished cards and suggestions whose time has passed or that have been replaced. Being in this group does not mean you completed the action. Read the completion status on the card.

Working a card

What each card in your daily plan contains, and everything you can do with it.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Every action in your plan is a card. The first one is the largest, because it is the one Bett-i suggests you start with.

A card can hold:

  • A title, and a small tag naming the category the action belongs to.
  • Why this, now. Open it to read why Bett-i chose this for you today, and what it was driven by.
  • Steps. When a card has steps they are numbered, up to 6, and some show how long they take.
  • Something extra: a place, a route, something to watch or listen to, a biomarker, a meal idea, or a time.
  • Buttons at the bottom to text Bett-i or call Bett-i about that card.

To mark a card done:

Complete a card

  1. 1Do the action.
  2. 2Select "Mark as completed" on the dark band at the bottom of the card.
  3. 3The band turns green and shows the time you completed it.

If you marked something by mistake, select "Mark as incomplete" on the same card.

When a card can go on your calendar, its main button always says "Add to calendar".

Add to calendar

  1. 1Select "Add to calendar" on the card.
  2. 2Check the title, the start and end times, the location and the notes.
  3. 3Save it.

The event is added to your Betterness calendar and you get a short confirmation. The card then shows an "On your calendar" marker.

If you have not connected a calendar yet, the same window offers to connect one first.

Other cards do other things. A button can open a link, or take you to another page in Betterness. It can also start a conversation with a specialist, or save a note.

Once you use a button it changes to a filled state such as Added, Opened, Saved or Started. You can see at a glance what you already did.

One kind of card helps you plan something to post. Its button opens a full screen where Bett-i proposes drafts. You pick the date and time for each one, and they go onto your calendar.

Tell Bett-i when a card is right or wrong for you.

Rate a card

  1. 1Select the thumbs up on a card you liked. It saves straight away.
  2. 2Select the thumbs down when a card is off.
  3. 3Pick what felt off in the panel that opens.
  4. 4Add more detail in the optional box if you want to.
  5. 5Select Send.

The options you can choose from are:

  • The advice feels irrelevant or doesn't fit my needs
  • Too generic or surface-level
  • Doesn't match my goals or priorities
  • Unrealistic to complete today
  • Repetitive or already seen before
  • Not helpful for me
  • Conflicts with my plan or lifestyle
  • Other

Bett-i uses this the next time she builds a plan. She keeps what you liked and steers away from what you turned down.

Cards sit under one of two tabs. Focus Now holds what is still ahead of you. Earlier Today holds what you completed, what has passed its time on the calendar, and what was replaced.

The number beside Earlier Today counts those, and disappears when there are none. Cards move between the tabs on their own, so give it a moment after you complete something.

When Focus Now is empty you see "All done. You're rocking!" with a short note on what moved forward. Before you finish anything, Earlier Today says "Nothing completed yet" and offers to show you what can be done.

Above the cards, a progress bar tells you how the day is going. It says how many actions are left, or that today is complete. It also carries the date, your local time, your city, and how many of the total you have done.

Note

A card you never checked still counts as something to do, even once its time has passed. The bar is hidden on a plan with no actions.

Frequently asked questions

What does Driven by mean?

It names the signal behind the card, such as a goal you set or something in your health data. You find it inside Why this, now.

Is there a timer for the steps on a card?

No. Steps are a numbered list, and some of them show how long they usually take. Nothing counts down.

I completed a card but it is still under Focus Now.

Completed cards move to Earlier Today. The two tabs recheck about once a minute, so it moves shortly after you mark it.

Can I get a card back after marking it complete?

Yes. Open it under Earlier Today and select "Mark as incomplete".

Manage your Focus

Set what your daily plan should focus on, when it runs, and how it reaches you.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

"Manage" is where you shape every future plan, not just today's. Open it with the sliders icon at the top of Today.

On a computer it opens as a panel on the right, and the plan shifts across to make room. On a phone it slides up from the bottom as a sheet.

To change what your plan focuses on:

Set your focus

  1. 1Open Focus and stay on the Today tab.
  2. 2Select the sliders icon at the top of the page.
  3. 3Write what you want under "What should your report focus on?"
  4. 4Select Save.

This prompt is saved for you and shapes every daily plan from then on.

Under the prompt you set when the plan runs:

  • How often it runs, and the time of day. A new schedule starts at 06:00 until you change it.
  • A switch to pause the daily run, and turn it back on whenever you want.
  • The date and time of the next run, shown in your time zone.

Delivery decides how the finished plan reaches you. Chat sends it to you inside Betterness. Mail sends it as a daily email. You can choose one or both.

To rebuild today's plan with what you just changed:

Rebuild today's plan

  1. 1Make your changes in the panel.
  2. 2Select Save.
  3. 3Select Regenerate.

The panel closes and the new plan starts building right away, using the prompt exactly as you saved it.

Note

Core includes 1 manual generation a day. Once it is spent, Regenerate becomes an Elite feature for the rest of the day. You can generate again tomorrow in your time zone.

Frequently asked questions

Does changing the prompt change the plan I already have?

No. Save it, then select Regenerate if you want today rebuilt with it. Otherwise it applies from the next plan onwards.

Can I stop Focus building a plan every day?

Yes. Turn off the schedule switch in "Manage". You can turn it back on at any time.

What time will my plan arrive?

At the time set in "Manage", in your time zone. The panel shows the exact date and time of the next run.

Media

6.5

Media

Music, podcasts, videos and playlists chosen around your health and your activities.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Media sits in Focus, next to Today. Everything in it is picked for health and wellness. Choose a section and press play.

The pills across the top are the sections:

  • For you. Stations put together by Betterness, ordered so the sports you actually do come first.
  • Music. Stations built around your activities and your energy.
  • Podcasts. Shows and episodes grouped by topic and by the people worth hearing.
  • Videos.
  • Playlists. Playlists from Betterness, and the ones you made yourself.

For you does not read your listening history from another service. It looks at the activities you logged over the last 8 weeks. The stations for those sports come first, ahead of everything else.

To find something specific:

Steps

  1. 1Select the search field at the top of Media.
  2. 2Type what you are after, such as a song, a show or a video.
  3. 3Read the results as they appear.
  4. 4Sort them by Relevance, Popular or Recent.
  5. 5Use the pager at the bottom to see more results.

Every result has Play. Results that can really be played also have a save button. Use it to put them straight into one of your playlists.

Below the pills is a row of filters. What you can filter by changes with the section you are in.

  • For you and Playlists: wellness pillar, activity, mood and topic.
  • Music: activity and mood.
  • Podcasts: topic and pillar.
  • Videos: pillar, topic and activity.
  • Creators, everywhere except Music and Playlists.

Anything that does not fit the row sits inside More. Each filter you turn on, and your search text, appears as a chip above the results. Select the chip to remove it.

Content is grouped into rows. They include Curated by Betterness, For your sports, By energy, Topics, People worth hearing and For this moment.

Each row shows 8 cards. "See all" opens that row as a full grid on the page. "Show less" folds it back.

At the top of the page, the hero is the first Betterness playlist for the section you are in. It names who curated it and where it plays. It tells you how many items it holds and how long it runs, and it gives you Play and Save.

Note

If search is having trouble you see a note saying search is limited right now. Betterness playlists keep working while it recovers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube here?

No. Media is its own catalogue. Some items open in the service that hosts them when they cannot play inside Betterness.

Why does the library on the right disappear?

It is hidden on narrow windows and while the player is open. The section pills, the search field and the rows stay where they are.

Can I filter music by tempo?

No. Tempo is not offered. Filter music by activity and by mood instead.

6.6

Playlists and the player

Build your own playlists, save what you like, and know what is playing and where.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Your playlists live in Media. The 4 you changed most recently sit in a row called Your playlists. All of them are in the library on the right of the page, next to the Betterness ones.

To make a playlist:

Make a playlist

  1. 1Open Media.
  2. 2Select the plus icon next to the search field, or the plus in the library on the right.
  3. 3Give the playlist a name.
  4. 4Search the whole catalogue in the picker and add the items you want.
  5. 5Save it.

To save something you come across:

Save to playlists

  1. 1Find the item, in a row or in your search results.
  2. 2Select its save button.
  3. 3Turn on the playlists you want it in, or create a new playlist and save it there.

A playlist made by Betterness has a Save button on its card and on the hero. Saving copies it into your own playlists, so you can change your copy without changing theirs.

Opening a playlist swaps the page for the playlist itself. You see whether it is Curated by Betterness or Your playlist, a Back button, and every item in it.

You can save any item into another playlist. Remove only appears on playlists you own.

When you press play, the player opens. On a wide screen it is a column down the right of the page. Otherwise it is a small bar that stays with you as you move around.

The badge on the player names the service that is actually playing, not where the item came from. It says Spotify only when Spotify is really the one playing.

The queue is only ever what you started. Play a playlist or a row and that becomes the queue. Play a single item and it replaces the queue.

When the queue ends it stops. It offers "Play again" and "Back to Media" rather than rolling into something you did not choose.

Some items cannot play inside Betterness. In the queue they are labeled "Opens on", followed by the service.

If the item you are on is one of them, the player says so. It offers "Open at source", which opens the item in a new tab.

Spotify items play as previews inside the player. The player tells you so, and you can log in inside the player for full tracks.

Videos play inside the page. Use Expand if you want one full screen.

Frequently asked questions

Why did the music stop at the end of the playlist?

The queue holds only what you started. Select "Play again" to run it again, or "Back to Media" to choose something else.

Can I remove a track from a Betterness playlist?

Not from theirs. Save the playlist first, which copies it into your own playlists, then remove the track from your copy.

Why does one result have no save button?

Save appears on items that have something to play. Items without a playable link cannot be added to a playlist.

Documents: upload and receive

6.7

Documents: upload and receive

Bring your health documents in, check what Bett-i read from them, and receive provider reports.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Documents sits in Focus. It keeps your health documents in one timeline, together with the reports your providers send you.

You can upload PDF files only, up to 50 MB each. Blood panels, doctor's notes, MRI and CT scans, DEXA scans and genetic screenings all belong here.

To add a document:

Upload a document

  1. 1Open Documents in Focus.
  2. 2Select "Upload documents".
  3. 3Drag your files in, or browse for them. You can pick more than one.
  4. 4Wait while the file uploads and Bett-i reads it.

You can see where it has got to. The stages are uploading, processing the document, pulling out the text, structuring the findings, then opening your new report.

A scanned document takes longer than one that was created digitally.

Bett-i pulls the values out of the document. Nothing reaches your Biomarkers dashboard until you approve it.

Confirm document values

  1. 1Open the report and go to Confirm values.
  2. 2Check each row against your original document.
  3. 3Mark each row as confirmed, or as needing review.
  4. 4Select "Approve and add to Dashboard". You can approve everything, or only the rows you selected.

The approved values then appear on your Biomarkers dashboard. You can undo an approval and edit again.

If you changed a value by hand and want the original back, select "Restore extracted value".

Caution

Bett-i is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Check every value against your original document, and talk to your clinician about what your results mean.

There is a limit on how many uploaded documents are analyzed for you each month. The upload panel shows how many of your included analyses you have used. It is separate from the lab panels you buy.

The timeline is called Your health journey. It holds four streams: Records, Medications, Supplements and Lab draws.

You can narrow it down, and the filters combine:

  • Source: Your uploads, Betterness Labs, or From providers.
  • Category: Laboratory, Diagnostic imaging, Clinical notes, Sleep study, Procedure, or Other.
  • Year, and free text search across your documents.
  • Sort by the date on the document, or by the date it was uploaded.

Each item carries a status: Ready, Needs review, Processing or Needs attention. Every filter you turn on shows as a chip you can remove, and "Clear filters" resets them all.

Documents from your providers arrive on their own. A report from a provider or a connected Team appears under From your providers. There is nothing to accept.

Each one says who created it for you and when it was sent. You can export it or download it as a PDF. Nothing is shared with a provider unless you choose to connect with them.

To share a document with someone:

Share a document

  1. 1Open the document you want to share.
  2. 2Select the share option.
  3. 3Choose whether to share the analysis or download the original PDF.
  4. 4Pick exactly which categories of information the link includes.
  5. 5Choose when the link should expire.
  6. 6Tick the box confirming that anyone with the link can view what you selected.
  7. 7Create the link, then copy it or share it.

You can also open the original file in a reader inside Betterness, or download it exactly as it arrived.

Frequently asked questions

My file will not upload.

Check that it is a PDF and under 50 MB. Other file types are not accepted.

Can I upload a photo of my results?

Not today. Only PDF files are accepted.

Where do approved values end up?

On your Biomarkers dashboard, alongside your other results.

Can I take a share link back?

A share link stops working at the expiry you chose when you created it.

Calendar

6.8

Calendar

See your day in one place, add your own events, and let Bett-i plan around what is booked.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Calendar sits in Focus. It puts three kinds of thing into one timeline.

  • The events you create in Betterness.
  • The events imported from your Google Calendar.
  • Lanes built from your own health data, for Personal, Labs, Medications, Sleep and Activities.

Google Calendar is read only. Bett-i reads your events to plan around them. She never creates, edits or deletes anything in Google Calendar.

Opening a Google event shows a panel with the attendees and the join link. A link opens the event in Google Calendar. You never get the editor.

To connect Google Calendar:

Connect Google Calendar

  1. 1Open Calendar in Focus.
  2. 2Open the More menu.
  3. 3Select "Connect Google Calendar".
  4. 4Sign in to Google and allow access.
  5. 5Come back to your calendar, with your events in place.

After that, the same menu shows that Google Calendar is connected. It lets you refresh the events, and lets you disconnect.

Disconnecting stops those events showing here, and you can reconnect at any time.

Switch between Day, Week and Month at the top of the page. The small month calendar on the side marks the days that have something on them. Today brings you back to now.

To create an event:

Create an event

  1. 1Select an empty slot in the calendar.
  2. 2Fill in the title, and the start and end times.
  3. 3Turn on All day if it takes the whole day.
  4. 4Add a location and a repeat if you need them.
  5. 5Select Save.

The sheet opens from the bottom on a phone, and from the right on a computer. It starts at the next half hour in your time zone.

Drag an event to move it to another time or day. Drag its edge to make it longer or shorter. Each change shows a short message with an Undo.

Opening one of your events lets you change the title, notes, location and calendar. You can also change all day, the start and end, the repeat and the alert. Clearing the location removes it, and Delete is there too.

Note

You can only move, edit or delete events you created in Betterness. Google events and the health lanes are there to be read.

Repeat offers:

  • Does not repeat
  • Every day
  • Weekdays, Monday to Friday
  • Every week
  • Every month
  • Custom

A single date in a repeating event cannot be changed on its own. The panel tells you the occurrence is read only and offers "Edit series" instead.

When an event overlaps others, you also see how many it conflicts with.

An alert can fire at the time of the event. It can also fire 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before. Longer offsets are 1 or 2 hours, or 1 or 2 days. Under "Notify via", choose Home message, Email, or both.

The calendar always runs on the time zone saved in your Settings. If your device is in a different zone, a note names the zone your device uses.

Your saved zone stays the one in use, and the note links you to Settings to review it. If the calendar cannot load, you get a message and a Retry button. The day is never shifted to the wrong hours.

All day items sit in a band at the top, which you can show or hide. Your medications for the day collapse into one row. Open it to see each one with its dose and time of day.

Note

Medications and supplements are edited in your health profile, not on the calendar. The calendar shows them so you can plan around them.

A reservation you made with a Team appears here as a read only event. Its panel offers "View reservation", which takes you to that Team to change or cancel it.

You can also search your events, hide and show individual calendars, and change the colors events are drawn in. Your color choices are saved automatically.

A day with nothing on it says "No events planned". It suggests asking Bett-i to plan your day, or creating an event yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not edit a Google event here?

Google Calendar is imported read only. Change it in Google Calendar, then use "Refresh Google Calendar events" in the More menu.

My day is showing the wrong hours.

The calendar uses the time zone saved in your Settings, not the one on your device. Check it in Settings.

Can I see a whole year at once?

The switcher offers Day, Week and Month.

Can I tick a medication off here?

No. The calendar shows what you take and when. Changes are made in your health profile.

Memory: what Bett-i remembers

6.9

Memory: what Bett-i remembers

See what Bett-i knows about you, add to it, pause it, or take it away.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Memory lives in your Settings. It lists what Bett-i keeps about you. She uses it when she plans your day and when you talk.

The page opens with the line "What Bett-i knows about you". Come here when an answer or a plan keeps missing the mark.

The first tab is Timeline, with everything newest first. After it come Goals, Preferences, Lifestyle and Training.

Each of those only appears when you have something in it. When the last item in a category goes, so does its tab, and you land back on Timeline.

Inside a tab, items are grouped by where they came from:

  • From your health profile.
  • From your Betterness goals.
  • From your conversations with Bett-i. These are picked up as you talk.
  • Added by you.

Every item shows its title, a short explanation, its category, and whether it is active or paused. It also shows the date it was tracked and who added it.

Items tied to a health target show that target and stay in step with it. All of them can be edited, paused or deleted, however they got there.

To add something yourself:

Steps

  1. 1Open Memory in Settings.
  2. 2Select "Add a memory".
  3. 3Write it the way you would say it out loud. Keep it to 160 characters.
  4. 4Check the category. Bett-i suggests one from what you wrote, and you can change it.
  5. 5If you chose Goal, add the timeframe.
  6. 6If you chose Purchase intent, tick the box to opt in.
  7. 7Select Save.

Note

The category suggestion works in English. In other languages the category starts as Other, so choose the right one before you save.

Purchase intent is the only category that asks you to opt in. It lets Bett-i watch for offers that fit you. She still asks before any purchase, booking or sharing outside Betterness.

"Talk to Bett-i", next to "Add a memory", opens her in voice already on the subject. You can review and update what she uses by talking instead of typing.

Your snapshot writes a short account of what Bett-i knows and reads it back to you. A few chips let you talk about one part in more detail.

It covers your context, health and wellness, goals and focus, and preferences. It also covers what is top of mind, open loops, and recent changes. If there is not enough active memory yet, it tells you so.

Open any item to change it:

  • Turn Active off to pause it. A paused item stops shaping your coaching and stays on the page.
  • Edit the title, the explanation and the category. On items tied to a health target you can adjust the target here too.
  • Delete it. You are asked to confirm, and Bett-i stops using it.
  • Refine with Bett-i hands the item over so you can reshape it together.
  • History shows how the item changed, and whether each change was made by you or by Bett-i.

Bett-i reads your active memories under Goals, Lifestyle, Preferences and Training. She does that for Today's Focus and for every personal conversation.

Paused items and deleted items are never used. Purchase intent is never used to shape a plan or a conversation. Your live health data always takes priority over what memory says.

Note

This memory is personal to you. It is never used inside a Team or partner space.

Frequently asked questions

Bett-i remembered something wrong. What do I do?

Open the item and edit it, or delete it. If it is close but not quite right, use "Refine with Bett-i".

Does pausing lose the item?

No. It stays on the page and stops shaping your coaching until you turn it back on.

My Focus keeps suggesting something I do not want.

Look in Memory for an active item behind it, and pause or edit it. You can also give the card a thumbs down in Today's Focus.

Where did Goals go?

Your goals are here, under the Goals tab and the group From your Betterness goals.
