Connected devices

Link your wearables and health apps, check they are syncing, and unlink them when you want.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Connected devices is where you link what sends your health data to Betterness. Open Settings, then Connected devices.

Note

Connecting a device is included in every plan.

These are the sources you can connect today:

  • Garmin, Oura, Peloton, Wahoo and Withings. You link these by signing in to the provider.
  • Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android. These connect only inside the Betterness app.
  • Eight Sleep. You link it by signing in with your Eight Sleep account, and it brings sleep stages, heart rate and bed temperature.

Link Garmin, Oura, Peloton, Wahoo or Withings:

Link a device

  1. 1Open Settings, then Connected devices.
  2. 2Find the provider card in the grid.
  3. 3Select "Link Account".
  4. 4Sign in to the provider in the window that opens and allow read access.
  5. 5Come back to Betterness. The card now reads Linked.

Note

Bett-i only reads your health data. She never modifies or deletes anything on your device.

Two things can interrupt that flow. If your browser blocks the pop-up, the whole tab is redirected to the provider instead. The connect window opens again when you return.

Some providers ask you to sign in or create a free account with them first. Finish that in their window and come back. Your connection stays in progress and picks up where it left off.

Connect Apple Health or Health Connect:

Link phone health

  1. 1Install the Betterness app on your phone.
  2. 2Open Settings, then Connected devices, in the app.
  3. 3Select "Set Up" on the Apple Health or Health Connect card.
  4. 4Choose which data Betterness can read on the permission screen your phone shows.

Note

On the web, the Apple Health and Health Connect cards show a download link instead of a connect button. If you already linked them from your phone, the card offers to open the Betterness app.

Each card carries a status badge, so you can see what is happening at a glance:

  • Syncing. Data is coming in.
  • Paused. You stopped the sync and can resume it.
  • Linked. The account is connected.
  • Needs reconnect. The permissions were wiped, usually after reinstalling the app. Reconnect to start the data flowing again.
  • Coming soon, or Not Connected. Nothing is linked yet.

Under the name of each source you also see what it contributes: Sleep, Activity, Body or Vitals.

Pause, review permissions or disconnect:

Manage a connection

  1. 1Open the card for the source you want to change.
  2. 2On Apple Health or Health Connect, select "Pause Sync" to stop new data.
  3. 3Select "Resume Sync" to start it again.
  4. 4Select "Manage Permissions" to open your phone health settings and review what Bett-i can read.
  5. 5On Garmin, Oura, Peloton, Wahoo or Withings, select "Unlink" to disconnect.

Tip

On Android, turn on background sync when you are asked. Without it your phone only sends data while the Betterness app is open. The Enable Background Sync screen walks you through it.

Two more things sit on this screen. Refresh at the top re-reads your connections. In the app it also runs a sync and tells you how many records came in.

Devices you saved for later collects the sources you showed interest in but have not connected. If you told us you use Eight Sleep during setup, a chip here points you to its card.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose which source wins for a metric here?

No. Connected devices is only about linking and unlinking. There is no source picker on this screen.

Disconnecting failed. What now?

Select Refresh and try again. The provider may already be disconnected on their side.

Do I need a paid plan to connect a device?

No. Connecting a device is included in every plan.

Data sharing

Decide exactly what health data each Team can see, change it later, or turn it all off.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Joining a Team does not hand over your health data. Data sharing is where you choose what a Team can access, category by category. Open Settings, then Data sharing.

Note

The screen states it: "App membership and data sharing are separate." You can share nothing and still be a member.

The screen has two lists. Pending requests are Teams waiting for your answer. Partners with access are the ones you already accepted. With neither, you see "No App connections".

Answer a request:

Steps

  1. 1Open Settings, then Data sharing.
  2. 2Find the Team under Pending requests.
  3. 3Review the categories the Team is asking for.
  4. 4Turn each category up or down to what you are comfortable with.
  5. 5Accept to join with those choices, or select Decline.

There are eight categories, and each one tells you what it covers:

  • Metrics. Measurements from your connected health sources.
  • Activities. Activity sessions, selected sources, routes, and heart-rate detail.
  • Nutrition. Meal totals, macros, supplements, and targets. Photos and saved places stay private.
  • Health profile. Member-owned health profile sections, shared from Betterness.
  • Biomarkers. Markers grouped by body system.
  • Goals. Goals and goal-progress reports.
  • Labs. Lab records and lab reports.
  • Modules. Whole views, shared exactly as you see them.

Every category has the same three settings:

  • All. Everything in that category.
  • Selected. Only the items you tick. Search, "Select all" and "Clear all" help when the list is long.
  • None. Nothing from that category.

Health profile is not all or nothing either. You can pick individual sections:

  • Health and Wellness Profile
  • Wellness Goals and Assessments
  • Detailed Medical History
  • Diets and Allergies
  • Family Health and Safety Screening
  • Family History
  • Wearables and Health Tracking
  • Body Snapshot
  • Prescriptions and Supplements

Caution

Sharing biological age also shares the 9 blood markers behind the score. Those are albumin, creatinine, glucose, CRP, lymphocytes, MCV, RDW, alkaline phosphatase and white blood cell count. It shares how each has changed over time, so it is not a narrower grant.

Change your mind at any time. Open the Team, move a category down to Selected or None, and the change applies right away.

Caution

Revoking or narrowing sharing stops that Team's access immediately. But anything they already viewed, downloaded, or saved while sharing was on cannot be recalled.

Three controls sit at the bottom of each Team panel:

  • "Turn off all" revokes every data scope and chat visibility. You stay a member.
  • "Reset to requested" puts the categories back to what the Team originally asked for. It is unavailable when they never asked for anything specific.
  • "Leave App" ends your membership and revokes all health data sharing. To come back you may need to be invited again.

Frequently asked questions

Does joining a Team share my data?

No. You can change every category or share nothing and still join.

Can I take back what a Team already saw?

No. Turning sharing off stops access from that moment on. Anything already viewed, downloaded or saved cannot be recalled.

Where does the data sharing come from?

It is shared voluntarily by you under our Terms of Service.

Create an access token so a tool like Claude Desktop or Codex can work with your health data.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Connect other apps turns your connected devices, labs, health documents and goals into a secure bridge. Another tool can read that bridge, with your permission.

Open Settings, then Connect other apps. The screen has three tabs: Access tokens, Starter kits and Analytics.

Create a token:

Steps

  1. 1Open Settings, then Connect other apps.
  2. 2Select "Create New Token".
  3. 3Give the connection a name, for example Claude Desktop for personal use.
  4. 4Select "Generate Connection".
  5. 5Copy the token from the box on the next screen and store it somewhere safe.
  6. 6Pick your tool from the tabs, then copy the setup command and paste it into your terminal.
  7. 7Select Done.

Caution

The token is shown once. Copy it before you close the window. If you lose it, there is no way to see it again. Revoke it and create a new one.

Caution

A token is a key to your health data. Never post it, paste it into a shared document, or give it to anyone who asks for it.

Each tool tab names the file the setup touches. That can be the Claude Desktop config file, or a project .mcp.json. Codex also offers a config file and an AGENTS file to download. OpenClaw offers a skill file and a credentials file.

Note

Generated setup is available for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex and OpenClaw.

The Access tokens table holds what you created. It lists the name, a masked token, and when it was created. It also shows when it was last used, or Never used.

Select Revoke on a row to cut a tool off. That tool loses access to Bett-i immediately. You can create a new token whenever you want.

The Starter kits tab has four ready-made recipes you can copy in one step:

  • Turn your wearables into a data layer.
  • Build your own health dashboard.
  • Centralize lab history and plan the next test.
  • Build agents that can act on health context.

Each recipe comes with four steps and a Copy Kit button.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy a token I created earlier?

No. Only the masked prefix is stored for the list. Revoke the old token and create a new one.

How many tokens can I have?

Create one per tool, so you can revoke a single tool without disturbing the others.

Where do I find the technical details?

Select "Open betterness.ai" on this screen for the full setup documentation.

Profile import

Profile import

Bring what another assistant knows about you into your Betterness profile, without typing it again.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

If you have been talking to another assistant for a while, it knows things about you that Bett-i does not. Profile import copies those facts across.

Open Settings, then Profile import. Start the wizard like this:

Start an import

  1. 1Open Settings, then Profile import.
  2. 2Select "Import from AI".
  3. 3On "Select AI", choose where you are importing from: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or "Other AI".
  4. 4On "Choose Data", tick one or more file types.

Profile Summary and Memory Export are the recommended file types. Health Profile, Communication Style and Conversation Themes are also available. Then finish the wizard:

Finish the import

  1. 1On "Import Data", copy the prompt Betterness generates.
  2. 2Paste it into the other assistant, then paste its answer back here.
  3. 3On "Review Data", look at the facts that were found and untick anything you do not want.
  4. 4On "Set Reminder", choose 30, 60 or 90 days, or Never.
  5. 5Finish. The screen tells you how many facts were imported.

Tip

The generated prompt tells the other assistant not to invent anything. If it does not know something, it leaves it out rather than guessing.

Each fact you review is marked New or Update, so you can see what would change.

Above the import button, Profile completeness shows a percentage and how many fields are filled in. Section breakdown splits that into six groups you can expand.

The groups are Body, Goals, Medical, Lifestyle, Nutrition and Fitness. Expanding one lists what it covers, how complete each part is, and which fields are still missing.

Once you have imported at least once, Import history appears. Each row lets you run the same import again, pre-filled with the same source and file types.

A row can also be deleted. Deleting an import removes the versions it created and the profile facts that came with it.

Note

Profile import is for what another assistant knows about you. Data from your watch or phone comes in through Connected devices, not here.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload a file instead?

No. The personal import works by copying a prompt into the other assistant and pasting the answer back.

Can I undo an import?

Yes. Delete it from Import history and the facts it added go with it.

How often should I re-import?

Pick a reminder at the end of the wizard. You can choose 30, 60 or 90 days, or turn reminders off.

Tell Bett-i about your body, history and goals, and understand your profile progress.

Updated Sep 6, 2026

Open Settings → Health profile. The form is titled Health & Wellness. Your answers help Bett-i understand your goals, routines and health history.

The form has nine sections:

  • Body Snapshot
  • Health and Wellness Profile
  • Wellness Goals & Assessments
  • Medical History
  • Prescriptions & Supplements
  • Diets and Allergies
  • Family Health
  • Family History
  • Additional Preferences & Data Sharing

Fill in or update your profile

  1. 1Choose a section from the list on the left. On your phone, the section list sits above the form.
  2. 2Answer or change a question. On a computer, you can also scroll through all the sections; on a phone, choose another section from the list.
  3. 3Watch the header change from “Saving...” to “Saved”. Your answers save as you go.

Note

There is no Save button. If the header says “Save failed”, check your connection and try the field again. Each section has a Reset option; use it only when you want to clear that section.

Frequently asked questions

Read Profile Setup

“45 of 52 answered”, for example, means 45 questions have answers out of the 52 currently in the form. Your own count changes as you add or clear answers. It is a progress count, not a health score.

A checkmark beside a section means you have started answering it. It does not mean every question in that section is complete. You can leave questions blank and return later.

Tip

To switch between Metric and Imperial, choose Body Snapshot and change Measurement System.

Automations

Set up work Bett-i runs on a schedule, and review what she has already run.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Automations is what Bett-i does for you on a schedule. Open Settings, then Automation. There are three views: Tasks, Checks and Execution history.

Tasks are work you ask for. Start one like this:

Create a task

  1. 1Open Settings, then Automation.
  2. 2Stay on Tasks and select "New Task".
  3. 3Give the task a name.
  4. 4Write the task prompt, which is what you want Bett-i to get done each time it runs.

Then set how and when it runs:

Schedule the task

  1. 1Choose a schedule from the presets, or switch to a custom schedule for exact timing.
  2. 2Choose where the result goes. Home posts it in your Home chat, and Email sends it to you.
  3. 3Set Max executions to stop the task after a number of runs. Leave it at 0 for unlimited.
  4. 4Save.

The schedule presets are:

  • Every 30 minutes.
  • Every hour.
  • Every 2 hours.
  • Every 6 hours.
  • Daily at 9am.
  • Twice daily, at 9am and 5pm.
  • Weekly, on Monday at 9am.

Use a preset when you can, and switch to a custom schedule only when you need precision. Schedules are shown back to you in plain language, in your own time zone.

Each task card shows Active, Paused or Failed, and gives you four things to do with it:

  • Flip the switch to pause the task, and flip it back to resume.
  • "Run now" runs it once straight away, without waiting for the schedule.
  • Edit changes the name, prompt, schedule or delivery.
  • Delete removes it. All execution history is lost and this cannot be undone.

Note

Daily Focus Plan appears in this same list. It is the task that builds your daily focus plan. Turning it on is what creates it, and you can then change its timing and prompt.

Checks are different. You do not create them. Bett-i keeps watching in the background and surfaces something only when it is worth your attention.

The Checks view lists what she watches:

  • Whether your health profile needs an update.
  • Things worth revisiting.
  • Your morning brief, prepared overnight.
  • What worked over the last month.
  • Your goals, checked each day.
  • Activities your watch synced late.

Execution history is the record. Switch between scheduled tasks and checks, refresh the list, and open a run to see what happened. It reads "No runs yet" until something has run.

Frequently asked questions

Where do my results show up?

Wherever you chose when you created the task: in your Home chat, or by email.

Can I stop a task without losing it?

Yes. Flip the switch on the card to pause it. Deleting is the one that removes the history for good.

What time zone do schedules use?

The time zone set in your account details.

Update your details and sign-in options, and choose your theme, language, region and time zone.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Account details holds your own information and the preferences that shape how Betterness looks and speaks to you. Open Settings, then Account details.

The first card is your profile. It holds your photo and your first and last name.

Under Personal details sit your email, date of birth, sex, current location, height, weight and interests. Your location is used for context and personalization.

Below that you can write a bio and add your social links. Bett-i can draft the bio for you.

Note

Height and weight are shown here but edited in your health profile, under Body Snapshot.

Security covers how you sign in:

  • "Change password" sends a reset link to your email.
  • "Add a password" is offered when you only sign in with Google. Google sign-in keeps working after you add one.
  • Connected accounts lists email and password, Google and Apple. You can disconnect one, but add a password first.
  • "Change email" sends a confirmation to the new address. Nothing changes until you confirm.

Phone is used for SMS notifications, voice calls and caller ID. It shows whether a number is set and whether it is verified.

Verify your phone

  1. 1Select "Add phone", or Change if you already have one.
  2. 2Enter your number.
  3. 3Enter the 6-digit code that is sent to you.
  4. 4If the code does not arrive, wait for the countdown and select resend.

Appearance lets you choose the palette that feels right, or follow this device automatically. Pick Light, Dark or Match device. The change saves on its own.

Language and region are two independent settings. Language is the language Bett-i uses. Country or region sets the local context. A hint under the selects tells you how she will speak.

Timezone anchors your plans, reminders and scheduled automations. Pick your time zone from the searchable list, or take the one Betterness detected in one step.

Week starts on decides which day your calendar and planner views begin. Select "Save preferences" when you are done.

Tip

Units are not set here. Metric and Imperial live in your health profile, under Body Snapshot, in Measurement system.

To log out:

Log out

  1. 1On a computer, select your avatar at the bottom of the left rail, then "Log Out".
  2. 2On your phone, open Settings and scroll to the bottom of the list, then select "Log Out".

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my email address?

Yes, from Security. The new address has to confirm before anything changes.

Why does my calendar start on the wrong day?

Change Week starts on in the Timezone card, then select "Save preferences".

Where do I switch to pounds and feet?

What the two plans are, what changes when you move up, and how the prices work.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Your plan lives in Settings, under Billing and usage. The plan grid at the top shows what is available and which one you are on.

There are two plans:

  • Core, the free plan.
  • "Your AI wellness team"
  • Elite, marked Most Popular. Its line is "Unlock your full potential".

Two limits change when you move from Core to Elite:

  • Messages. Core includes 20 messages a day. Elite has no daily message limit.
  • Focus. Core includes 1 Focus generation a day. Elite adds unlimited regenerations.

Note

Connecting a device is included in every plan.

Above the cards is a Monthly and Yearly toggle. Switching to Yearly shows the discount next to the label, and the card prices change with it.

Move up a plan:

Steps

  1. 1Open Settings, then Billing and usage.
  2. 2Choose Monthly or Yearly.
  3. 3Select the button on the Elite card.
  4. 4Finish the checkout.

Note

Upgrading takes you straight to checkout. Moving down asks you to confirm first and shows what you lose. See Change or cancel your plan.

A plan you can move up to may offer a trial. The card then reads Start free trial with the number of days. While a trial is running, the card shows how many days are left.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I hit the daily message limit on Core?

You see how many messages you have left as you approach it. Once you reach it, continue the next day or move up to Elite.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Yes. Use the toggle above the plan cards before you choose a plan.

Where do I see what I am on now?

The plan you are on is marked in the grid. It also shows next to your name in the Settings list on your phone.

Betterness Credits

What Betterness Credits are, how to add them, and how auto-reload works.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

Betterness Credits pay for the extras that cost something to produce. They sit on top of what your plan already includes, and the two are separate.

You find them in Settings, under Billing and usage. The card at the top shows your balance, the conversion, and when you last added credits.

Note

1 USD = 100 Betterness Credits.

If you have never added any, the card reads "No top-ups yet".

Add credits:

Add credits

  1. 1Open Settings, then Billing and usage.
  2. 2Select "Add Betterness Credits".
  3. 3Choose a pack.
  4. 4Select "Continue to payment" and finish the checkout.

Note

Your balance can take a few seconds to update after you pay. It refreshes on its own, so you do not need to reload the page.

Under the balance, Transaction history lists every movement: credits added, credits used, refunds, grants and adjustments.

Each row shows the date, how many credits moved, and your balance afterwards. Select "Load more" to go further back.

Auto-reload keeps you from running out. It charges your default card when your balance drops below a threshold you pick.

Set auto-reload

  1. 1Turn on Auto-reload.
  2. 2Choose the balance that triggers a reload.
  3. 3Choose how much to add each time.
  4. 4Save.

Caution

Auto-reload charges the card on file without asking again. Turn it off from the same switch whenever you want.

Frequently asked questions

Do credits replace my plan?

No. Plan prices and credits are separate. Credits cover usage on top of what your plan includes.

What happens when I run out?

The features that use credits stop until you add more. Everything else keeps working.

Where can I see what I spent credits on?

In Transaction history, under your balance.

Change or cancel your plan

Switch plans, see when the change takes effect, and manage the card that pays for it.

Updated Sep 3, 2026

You change your plan from the same grid you used to choose it. Open Settings, then Billing and usage.

Move up to a bigger plan:

Upgrade your plan

  1. 1Open Settings, then Billing and usage.
  2. 2Select the upgrade button on the plan you want.
  3. 3Finish the checkout. The new plan is active straight away.

Move down, or back to Core:

Downgrade your plan

  1. 1Open Settings, then Billing and usage.
  2. 2Select the downgrade button on the plan you want.
  3. 3Read the list of what you lose by moving down.
  4. 4Select "Confirm Downgrade".

Note

A downgrade takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You keep everything you are paying for until then.

Once a downgrade is scheduled, a notice sits above the plan cards. It tells you how many days are left, which plan you move to, and on what date. Nothing happens before that date.

Below the plans, Billing details holds the name, email and address your invoices are made out to. Change anything and the Save button lights up.

Payment methods is where you add or remove cards. It reads "No payment methods added yet" when there is nothing on file, and each card can be deleted.

Caution

Removing the card that pays for your subscription is warned about on screen. Your current billing period stays covered. Once it ends with no other payment method on file, your subscription is canceled automatically.

If that happens, a banner tells you the date your subscription is covered until. It asks you to add another payment method before then, to avoid cancellation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pause my plan?

No. There is no pause. You can move down to Core, which takes effect at the end of your billing period.

When does a downgrade actually happen?

At the start of your next billing cycle. The notice above the plan grid shows the exact date.

What if I remove my only card?

Your current billing period stays covered. If no other card is on file when it ends, the subscription is canceled automatically.
