Two scopes: global (all projects) or project (this repo only).

Auto-install — global scope

npm install -g @betterness/cli
betterness auth login
betterness mcp install claude-code

Writes to ~/.claude/settings.json. Available in every Claude Code session.

Auto-install — project scope

betterness mcp install claude-code --scope project

Writes to .mcp.json in the current directory. Only available when Claude Code runs from this project.
