Prerequisites
- An MCP client connected to Betterness (install guide)
- A valid API key
Try a read-only prompt
Ask your client one of these — it should call the corresponding Betterness tool:

What success looks like
The client shows a tool call panel (different UI per client) and returns structured JSON. The agent then summarizes it for you in plain language.
If nothing happens
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| Client never calls a tool | Confirm the server is registered — most clients have an "MCP" or "Integrations" panel listing connected servers |
| Tool call returns 401 | API key missing or wrong — see authentication |
| Tool call returns 400 with a transport error | Set the client's transport to http |
| Empty data | The user has no data in that category yet — connect a wearable or upload a lab result |
