What is Betterness
Governed health data infrastructure for agents and developers.
The platform
Betterness is a health data platform built specifically for AI agents. Where most platforms add health on top of generic infrastructure, Betterness was designed from the ground up around three constraints: medical-grade trust, fine-grained consent, and autonomous agent ergonomics.
What an agent or developer can do
- Read biomarkers, biological age, lab results, wearable data (activity, sleep, vitals, body composition), profile, health questionnaire answers
- Order lab tests end-to-end: catalog → purchase → schedule blood draw → view results
- Upload lab result PDFs and review the extracted values before approval
- Connect, disconnect, and query 7+ wearable providers (Apple Health, Garmin, Oura, Withings, Eight Sleep, Peloton, Wahoo)
- Search the Betterness knowledge library and partner SmartListings
Two access surfaces
| Surface | Best for | Auth |
|---|---|---|
CLI (@betterness/cli) | Scripts, cron, terminal automation, agent pipelines that pipe stdout | OAuth (interactive) or API key (bk_*) |
| MCP (HTTP) | Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, ChatGPT, OpenClaw, any MCP-compatible client | API key (bk_*) only — JWT does not work on async dispatch |
Governance, in one breath
Every CLI invocation and MCP tool call is authenticated, scoped, rate-limited, and logged. API keys are never stored in plaintext. Consent grants control which tools an agent can call and which data categories are exposed. Grants can be revoked from the Console at any time.
Where to go next
- CLI or MCP? — pick the right surface for your task
- Install the CLI — under a minute, cross-platform
- Connect via MCP — works with most modern AI clients
- Trust Center — encryption, consent, audit
